Corn cob is Rak Din's standard biochar feedstock. We buy our corn cob biochar from small farmers in North Thailand who would otherwise burn it, contributing to the annual haze crisis. By preventing corn cob from being burned, Rak Din sequesters CO2 and averts the emission of eCO2, smog precursors, PM2.5 (haze) and black carbon. Every day farmers make biochar, they also earn a fair day's wages during the dry season when there is no other work available. Rak Din is proud of how its biochar purchases contribute to poor communities across the North.
